What to expect during treatment?
The treatment applied by a professional will use an Anodyne machine Model 480 that has 8 MIRE pads. There will be a diagnosis and the best protocol will be defined so that the objectives are achieved. Anodyne Therapy will not interfere with complementary treatment so you can continue with other therapies previously prescribed.
Most patients feel a mild heat during the treatment with Anodyne Therapy. Others experience a tingling sensation or uncomfortable sensation at the beginning of treatment. This tingling is often a good sign since it means that blood flow is increasing and the nerves are responding positively to this improvement. This sensation will disappear after about 6 treatments.
What other feelings can be experienced?
- After the treatment it is normal for the treatment area to be slightly pink immediately afterwards. This is due to dilation of blood vessels and should disappear roughly after an hour.
- You may feel some tingling or burning, especially if your feet or legs were severely affected. It is an excellent sign that blood flow is coming to your nerves and you should not stop treatment. In fact, we recommend applying more frequently the therapy during this phase. The pain may increase for 3-6 treatments as your feet get more blood. The most important thing you can do to recover the nerves and thereby improve the feel and balance is to do the complete therapy.
- If you are diabetic control your glucose levels. You might have to slightly reduce the insulin.
- If you have a wound, you can see an increase in clean fluid due to increased circulation. This is a good sign that blood flow is coming to the wound.
- Your nails and hairs may grow as soon as the blood flow is restored.
- Your skin may sweat more in the treated area, especially if you have an edema.
- A dead or dry skin may fall allowing to grow new skin.
All these events reflect an increase in blood flow to areas in need by helping them heal. Never stop the therapies in the middle of treatment. If you have any questions clarify it with your therapist.
Treatment Protocols
Chronic conditions: Common protocols require that patients be treated for 30 minutes, three times a week for about 4 weeks.
Acute situations: For severe pain, the treatments can be given up to three times a day. In some cases the protocols may be of shorter duration or applied less frequently.
Benefits and Duration
How long does it take to see improvements and for how long will the relief of the patient last?
Some patients feel pain relief in the first treatment while others need 6 or more treatments to see improvement. In general we can say that if the patient does not feel improvement after 12 treatments maybe the infrared therapy is not effective for your condition.
Anodyne Therapy relieves pain temporarily. Chronic pain and / or circulatory problems require continued use. We recommend the purchase of a home appliance MH120 as a way to maintain continuity of care without leaving home.
Security
What are the precautions and possible side effects?
Anodyne Therapy should not be used directly on or near:
- A cancerous active tumor
- The uterus during pregnancy
- Balsamic Creams and the alike or over pain patches or residual thereof. Completely remove these products before applying Anodyne Therapy and don’t apply them as long as the therapy lasts.
Anodyne has no side effects or interactions with other drugs known. However some precautions should be taken:
- People with severe circulatory issues: Sometimes there is a slight increase in tingling or burning, with increasing blood flow. It can be compared with the sensation we have when we have crossed legs for a long period or when we maintain a tight rubber band around a finger. This situation usually resolves itself within the first 6-8 treatments. It is good sign and means that the blood flow is getting normal.
- Persons with diabetes: When increasing activity levels during therapy sessions and reduce stress by reducing pain, control blood sugar more regularly.
